The University of Texas at Austin: What starts here changes the world. Office of the Vice President for Employee & Campus Services College of Fine Arts

Landmarks is the first program in the history of The University of Texas at Austin to develop a cohesive collection of public art for the main campus.

The first major initiative of the program will be to install twenty-eight sculptures on long-term loan from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. These works will create an art historical foundation upon which the university can build its own stunning collection.

This extraordinary opportunity allows the university not only to establish an association with one of the world's greatest museums but also to acquire a group of sculptures that, because of their rarity and worth, would be impossible for any institution to assemble today.

The initial sculptures will be in place throughout the main campus by September 2008, and a second, smaller group will be unveiled at the renovated Bass Concert Hall in January 2009. With this auspicious beginning, the Landmarks program promises to enhance the aesthetic character of the campus and be a source of civic pride for the university and surrounding community for generations to come.
