Landmarks, in collaboration with the Department of Art and Art History and The Loren Hotel, welcomes artist Matthew Ritchie for a lecture on April 11. Ritchie’s practice investigates systems of information, language, mythology, science and more. He has exhibited internationally, and his work is included in the collections of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Museum of Modern Art, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Ritchie will be in conversation with PhD candidate and Landmarks Advisory Committee member, Jana La Brasca.
Landmarks recently screened Caudex (2022), a digital animation by Ritchie, as part of Landmarks Video. The artist’s visit to Austin coincides with the opening of Explorers, a group exhibition organized by Penny Aaron, curator for The Loren Hotel art collection. The show is on view at Paggi House in Austin through mid-May.
