O N E E V E R Y O N E by Ann Hamilton

O N E E V E R Y O N E is a public art project by Ann Hamilton. It is framed by the idea that human touch and intimacy are the most essential means of contact and the fundamental expression of physical care.

Commissioned by Landmarks for the Dell Medical School, O N E E V E R Y O N E began as a campaign to photograph more than five hundred members of the Austin community. It welcomed all who had either provided or received care (everyone) and invited participants to hold an object they considered emblematic of caregiving or comfort.

With more than seven thousand images in hand, the project expanded to assume multiple forms: architectural panels that line the corridors of the medical school; a newsprint publication featuring seven critical responses to the work; a book intended to circulate freely that holds at least one portrait of each participant; a website where the same photographs may be downloaded; a library of images that will enhance future buildings of the medical complex; and an exhibition in collaboration with the Visual Arts Center.

O N E E V E R Y O N E by Ann Hamilton will open to the public on Friday, 27 January, 2017.
