COMMUNICATIONS INTERN (PAID)
This is mostly a remote-work position.
Appointment: Spring 2021; $12 hourly, avg. 10-15 hours/week, flexible within M-F 9-5pm
Overall purpose of the position:
The Communications Intern is responsible for assisting the Communications Coordinator with public relations, content management, and administrative tasks as assigned. This includes collecting press related needs, strategizing and scheduling social media posts, website/technical support and promoting ongoing events.
Key Responsibilities:
General Public Relations and Marketing
· Post Landmarks’ events on university and local event calendars
Media Relations
· Social Media
· Gather content and prepare posts
· Develop strategies to increase social media engagement with diverse audiences
· Assist in the tracking and reporting of key metrics for platform performance
· Assist in the maintenance of Landmarks press book and clipping archive (requires travel to on-campus office, with no interaction with others)
Design
· Maintain Landmarks’ brand and style guidelines throughout all materials
· Maintain up to date record of ADA requirements for social media and web-related content
· Maps
- Track printed map and brochure inventory and oversee distribution to campus and community partners (requires travel to on-campus office, with no interaction with others)
Photography and Video
· Provide photography and video with captions to media outlets and stakeholders
· Assist in the diversification of model pool for stock photography and videography
· Assist in the maintenance of Photo & Video Archive
- Maintain Smugmug archive for all Landmarks image content
- Title files in accordance with Landmarks standards and tag
Technology Platforms
- Support technology for virtual event registrations
Administration and Assessment
- Contribute to dashboard tracking to include press, website interaction, and social media reach
- Additional duties upon request
Internship Video Wrap-Up
- Upon completion of their internship, the student is required to record a one-minute-long video (either on cell-phone or laptop) that discusses their internship experience with Landmarks and to thank donors for their support
Qualifications
· Strong writing and verbal communication skills and experience crafting messages to engage an audience
· Adept in social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
· Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
· Enthusiasm to learn new things
· Interest in multicultural communications
