What happens when art, engineering, and imagination meet? Find out with the new Young People’s STEM Tour, now available on the Landmarks mobile app. Designed for young and curious learners, this self-guided tour invites participants to explore six works from Landmarks’ public art collection across the UT campus.
STEM concepts are essential to the art-making process: precise measurements are used to stabilize large structures like sculptures, digital displays integrate computer coding, and welded works rely on the forces of physics. Across the Landmarks collection, science, technology, and engineering shape how the works are made, installed, and experienced.
Each stop on the tour features a description of the artist and their work, along with a game, question, or activity to encourage close looking and group discussion. The stops explore real-world examples of how STEM is used in the creation of public art, helping young visitors see the collection in a new light.
