My name is Ashni Guneratne, and this summer I worked with Landmarks as the Communications Intern. My internship was supported by the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation to which I am grateful for. I first worked with Landmarks in a previous on-campus internship during which I collaborated with Landmarks to create the Mindfulness Tour. This experience provided me with a deeper sense of appreciation for the Landmarks Collection and the way it enriches our campus and student lives. Thus, seeing the opportunity to get to work with Landmarks again as a Communications Intern, I was excited to apply to support the promotion of the Landmarks Collection and programming.

This summer, I developed evergreen content for the Landmarks social media. One project that stands out was the development of content for the Mindfulness Monday series where I got to combine my interests in wellness with promoting the Landmarks Collection. I’m grateful for the opportunity to get to work on projects that take into account my strengths and expertise to support the goals of Landmarks. I look forward to seeing more Mindfulness Monday content roll out on the Landmarks social media throughout the year.

Despite being a summer-long internship, my time with Landmarks has taught me so much. I gained hands-on experience in communications and saw the work that goes on behind-the-scenes to develop content for social media promotion. I also developed a better understanding of structured roles in the arts which has developed a newfound appreciation for public art, in general. I am grateful for the opportunities, trust, and support that I received during this internship, especially from my supervisor, Logan Larsen. I look forward to taking what I learned from this experience forward into my future career.
