Help Reopen the James Turrell Skyspace

During 40 Hours for Forty Acres, UT Austin's bi-annual giving campaign, Landmarks is raising money to conserve and reopen James Turrell's The Color Inside. Running September 22nd through September 23rd, the campaign is an essential step to reopening the space. Shuttered for over a year and a half due to Covid-19, the space is in need of essential conservation and construction tasks before it can reopen.

Conservation tasks include:

  • Replacing the computer that runs the space
  • Painting bench backs
  • Resealing the floor
  • Hiring and training our staff and student attendants

Each year, the skyspace hosts over 100,000 visitors. Programs like the nightly light sequence, Landmarks’ educational initiatives, and Songs in the Skyspace, cannot continue until these essential conservation and maintenance tasks are completed.
