This summer, Landmarks welcomed Christopher Tran and Valeria Blanco Pérez to its education and communications departments. The students joined Landmarks as part of the College of Fine Arts’ Arts Administration Fellowship, a two-year program that provides fully-funded internships first at UT and then at local arts organizations.
Through the fellowship, students gain hands-on experience working in the arts while developing a deeper understanding of the many roles that support creative organizations. At Landmarks, Tran and Blanco Pérez contributed to projects spanning education, programming, communications, and music.
A third-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance, Tran served this summer as an education intern. He supported a range of educational initiatives and helped curate the upcoming season of Songs in the Skyspace. His favorite work in the Landmarks collection is James Turrell’s The Color Inside.
“The most special thing I learned through my work at Landmarks was the beauty of art and the community,” Tran said. “The work I've done here at Landmarks has been very special to me, and I look forward to continuing my involvement in the arts as an administrator.”
Blanco Pérez served as the Communications Intern. A fourth-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Dance with an emphasis in Production, she helped curate the 2026–27 season of Listening with Landmarks, developed social media content, and worked on several other communications projects. Her favorite work in the collection is Marc Quinn’s Spiral of the Galaxy.
“Through my work at Landmarks I learned how special it is to not only have so much art all around this beautiful campus but also share all the opportunities to enjoy it with the greater Austin community,” Blanco Pérez said.
From shaping music programming to connecting audiences with public art, Tran and Blanco Pérez brought valuable perspectives to Landmarks this summer. Their work reflects an important part of the Arts Administration Fellowship: giving students the opportunity to learn by contributing directly to the cultural life of the university and the broader Austin community.
